Technology Integration
So I just finished up my technology integration section of the midterm. It was a little harder then I had expected it to be. I had some trouble at first trying to decide what technology to use, what grade to pick, what subject I wanted to do, and how to work all of these things into one lesson. I decided to do a lesson involving group work in Google Docs. I knew I would have to do a higher grade level, so I first started off by just looking at the Language Arts GLCEs for grades four and up. I found a fifth grade standard that involved developing a research paper and another that involved editing and revising work. I decided to use these two and then a Social Studies GLCE that would give my students something to actually research. Once I was able to choose these standards developing the lesson became much easier. Now that it is all said and done I can honestly say that I am very pleased with how my lesson turned out. I really like how you used two Language Arts GLCEs and a Social Studies GLCE, along with the technology integration all in one lesson. I think it is very important to be able to cover more than one standard, from more than one subject area in a lesson/unit whenever possible because there is no way that a teacher can cover all of the education standards in the course of one school year by only focusing on one at a time. I think its great that you are practicing including more than one standard, and standards from multiple subject areas at one time now, so that you will automatically do that whenever possible in the future. I also really liked how you found an actual Michigan Educational Technology Standard that you could cover through your language arts/social studies lesson. I never really thought about looking into the state technology standards even though we were creating a lesson with technology integration. I really enjoyed viewing all of your ideas expressed through your lesson.
