Up until this past year I have never had much technology integrated into my classes. It was always just the same old websites, a overhead, the elmo, etc. This past year in CEP 431 and CEP 432, deaf ed classes with Dr. Johnson, we used technology ALOT and it was very helpful! For both classes we had a class Wiki, assignments which were completed via Skype with students not only from different schools in Michigan, but students in the Pacific islands as well as teachers throughout the U.S. We also had many class discussions and lessons about how to integrate technology into the classroom and how helpful it can actually be. These two classes have opened my eyes so much to technology in the classroom and I feel like they were a really good introduction to the things we are learning in CEP 416.

Also in the past year I have been going to many different elementary school placements, both for general education as well as deaf education. I am surprised at how I haven't seen much technology being used in these classrooms, especially the deaf ed resource rooms. The things I have seen in these classrooms are the same things I feel like I have been using since I was in elementary school. I hoping that in the future I will be able to see technology being integrated more in the classroom.

  1. I especially liked how we, as a class, used Skype in the classroom to talk with other teachers in other states. Before this class, I had no idea what Skype was. Now that I use it more in my everyday life, I am now noticing how many people actually use it! My roommate uses it to chat with her family in China and I have been using it to chat with family and friends in other towns or states. It has really expanded my ability to communicate and keep in touch with people far away!

  2. I know the same has happened with me. I had never heard of it either and then all of a sudden it was everywhere. My friends that still live at home and I have been using it now too becuase it is so much better then just sitting on the phone to talk. I never thought something I had to use in one of my classes could be used in my own social life!
